The Bob Marley Museum is the former home of the Reggae legend!
The Bob Marley Museum is the former residence and studio of the legendary reggae singer, Bob Marley. It is located in the capital, Kingston, and was Marley’s home until his death in 1981.
The museum, filled with rich memories and treasured mementos of the great Jamaican musician, remains as it was when Bob lived there. The sights and sounds of the Reggae King will envelop you as you take a guided tour of this Jamaican Heritage Site.
The Wailers founded the Tuff Gong record label there in the 1970s. Today, the house is a famous tourist attraction, museum, and shrine. HEY, you never know…you may run into one of his famous sons who often visit to use the studio!
If you are a fan of Bob Marley and his music, this is a must place to visit. The tour shows a very personal view of Bob’s life and the history and philosophy of his music. The one-hour tour also tells the story of Bob Marley’s life after he moved “uptown.”
Inside The House
Upon entrance, you will see a statue of the music legend. Although the home is very simplistic, vibrant Rastafarian murals and colors decorate the surroundings.
Inside the home displays Bob’s gold and platinum records along the walls – Exodus, 1977, Uprising, 1980, and Legend, 1984. If you browse through you will see many of Marley’s prestigious awards. Also featured in the home are Rastafarian religious cloaks, Bob Marley’s favorite denim shirt, and the Order of Merit given to him by the Jamaican government.
The second floor of his home includes the bedrooms. One of the rooms showcases media clippings of Marley’s superstar life. Another room is a model of Bob Marley’s original record shop – Wail’n Soul’.
The most intriguing room of all is Marley’s unadorned bedroom left just as it was with his star-shaped guitar laying by his bedside. It was in this bedroom that a failed assassination attempt was made on Bob Marley.
